This Supernatural Story
Steven Soderbergh challenges his film-making abilities in this clever supernatural story captured wholly from the viewpoint of a ghost. When a household including mother Rebekah plus Callina Liang as Chloe moves into their fresh home, the filming device – AKA the Presence – shadows their actions. The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the conflict between spirituality and money, it's a knockout win for Mammon in this director's wonderfully garish true story of the disgraced televangelist plus her lawbreaking partner. The actor acts as the corrupt Bakker, who declares at the beginning, asserting religious justification for riches. He and Tammy Faye set about capitalizing on the American public's religious faith. It's a riot of poor styling, overdone appearance and bad faith, though Chastain manages to show the real-life figure with compassion. Next Tuesday, late night, Film4
