The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Displeasure Over Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
